This is an interim privacy policy for the current version of the site. As features like the newsletter go live, I’ll update it and change the date above.

Overview

I respect your privacy, and this site is built to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what I collect, why, and how I handle it. I keep it plain because a privacy policy shouldn’t need a law degree to read.

The short version: this site does not use tracking cookies, does not run advertising pixels, and does not sell your data. There’s no cookie banner because there’s nothing invasive to consent to.

What I collect

Information you give me directly

  • If you email me (via the contact page or my email address): your name, email, and whatever you write to me. I use it to reply to you, and nothing else.

There is no newsletter signup, account login, comment system, or payment processing active on the site right now. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics: I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see basic, aggregated numbers like which pages get viewed and roughly where visitors come from. It is privacy-first by design: no cookies, no fingerprinting, and no data that identifies you personally. I cannot see who you are from it.
  • Server logs: my host (Cloudflare) may keep standard request logs (for example IP address and browser type) for security and to keep the site running. These are not used to profile you.

What I do NOT do

  • I do not use Google Analytics, Meta/Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or retargeting tracker.
  • I do not set tracking cookies.
  • I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
  • I do not collect or store payment details.

Cloudflare runs a global network, so serving the site and these basic logs may involve servers outside Australia. No marketing or profiling data is shared with anyone.

How I store and protect your data

  • The site is served over HTTPS (encrypted) on every page.
  • Any email you send me is stored in my email account and kept only as long as I need it to help you.
  • I do not store payment information. The site takes no payments.

Your rights (Australian Privacy Act 1988)

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you can:

  • Access the personal information I hold about you
  • Correct anything inaccurate or out of date
  • Ask me to delete your information
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you think your privacy has been mishandled

To do any of these, just email me. If you’ve only ever browsed the site, I almost certainly hold nothing about you to begin with.

Children’s privacy

This site isn’t aimed at children under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent me personal details, email me and I’ll delete them.

Changes to this policy

I’ll update this page as the site grows (for example when the newsletter launches) and change the “last updated” date. Big changes will be obvious on this page.
